Mentoring Qualification Program (MQP) Facilitator Position

We are seeking OPC Members who are highly qualified practising or recently retired elementary and secondary principals to facilitate our online Mentoring Qualification Program modules and other related professional learning offerings. We also encourage principals and vice-principals who are actively working in related fields to apply.

Responsibilities

  • deliver the Mentoring Qualification Program content based on the schedule established and sufficient enrolment through the Canvas Learning Management System 
  • Communicate program requirements and expectations to candidates
  • Monitor candidate participation and engagement in the program and provide candidates with meaningful and relevant timely feedback to enhance learning
  • collaborate with the program lead and OPC team to plan and deliver approved course content
  • deliver the program as requested and in accordance with the Ontario of Teachers (OCT) Guidelines
  • complete Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training  to support our efforts to continuously improve the delivery of our programs through an anti-oppressive and human rights lens
  • understand and uphold OPC’s Professional LearningGuiding Principles that drive all planning, development and delivery
  • uphold and model the OCT’sStandards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and theEthical Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • be punctual for synchronous sessions and communicate changes directly with candidates, program lead and/or facilitator regarding any changes to scheduled sessions
  • support development and review of content as requested
  • meet with the OPC team and other facilitators as needed

Selection Criteria

A successful applicant will possess

  • membership with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in good standing
  • a deep understanding of public education in Ontario
  • exemplary experience as a practising principal with recent, relevant and varied school experiences
  • expertise in all areas of school leadership and facilitation
  • demonstrated understanding of a province-wide perspective
  • comfort using a Learning Management System to facilitate learning 
  • a high level of comfort using a variety of digital tools to enhance learning
  • proficiency  in using various office programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and G-suite
  • exemplary communication skills
  • a dynamic and resourceful approach to work based on continuous self-learning and knowledge of current trends and research in education
  • demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles
  • a “lead learner” stance as an educator
  • knowledge and commitment to foundational principles that support human rights and anti-oppression
  • In-depth knowledge and involvement in specific leadership initiatives related to capacity building and learning initiatives
  • expertise in areas of school leadership, mentoring/coaching and facilitation

 The following will be considered an asset

  • experience in both elementary and secondary panels
  • successful completion of MQP
  • courses/learning related to equity literacy

Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Selected candidates will be invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting (with video) and will need to be available on July 3. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation.

The successful independent contractor will need to be available by September 2024.
