The three principals associations, the Catholic Principals' Council of Ontario (CPCO), L'Association des directions et directions adjointes des écoles franco-ontariennes (ADFO) and the Ontario Principals' Council (OPC), in partnership with School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON) are hosting nine in-person regional meetings for board implementation teams. These regional sessions are part of an ongoing collaboration that supports the work of school principals and vice-principals in creating mentally healthy schools. Three of the nine sessions will be French.
Leading Mentally Healthy Schools (LMHS) is a leadership concept (packaged as a resource) that describes the core components of developing, operating and sustaining mentally healthy schools in Ontario. This updated resource is specific enough for school administrators across the province to chart a collective course for leading mentally healthy schools and broad enough for each school administrator to contextualize the path forward for the school communities they serve.
Session Description
Each session will build awareness and leadership capacity to effectively utilize SMH-ON materials in daily work of normalizing mental health conversations and creating more mentally healthy school environments across the province. Timed with the release of the revised Leading Mentally Healthy Schools (LMHS) resource, it will provide opportunities for board teams to network and engage in meaningful professional collaboration.
Each session is offered to facilitate support and conversations to help board teams develop the implementation process of Leading Mentally Healthy Schools and to provide time for planning and collaboration for the 2024-25 school year.

Board Teams and Registration
We invite registration from district school board teams of five to inform the board in implementation planning of Leading Mentally Healthy Schools, including

3 vice-principals and/or principals

Mental Health Lead and
-
Superintendent.
Travel/Accommodation Subsidy for Principal Association Members
There is a limited number of subsidies, up to a maximum of $400 per district representing $133 per person (maximum of 3 people) for travel/accommodation available through the Principals’ Associations for their Members/Associates. The expense procedure should be reviewed. To submit, complete the expense form that will be sent via confirmation email to all eligible participants (email will be sent following the registration deadline for each session) and submit it via email to the respective principals’ association. Your expense claim will be processed within 30 days of receipt.

Schedule
Duration: Full-day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
