International School Leadership (ISL) is a department of the Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC), a not-for-profit organization which brings educational excellence through its onsitand online diverse programming. We are seeking highly qualified instructors to deliver our online and onsite International School Leadership Certificate Program, an internationally highly regarded school-level leadership certificate program for national and international school leaders. The program consists of six modules and other related professional learning offerings. Sessions are offered either online or onsite across the globe (e.g., Cayman Islands, Sweden) based on requests from international contacts, usually under contract. 

Responsibilities

  • deliver the program based on the schedule established through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and onsite as contracted 

  • collaborate with local delivery partners to contextualize the program to meet the local needs and context 

  • work closely with delivery partner in the planning and preparation for delivery  

  • travel internationally and nationally to locations where the program has been booked 

  • deliver the program as requested onsite in national and international locations, typically over a 3–5-day period 

  • meet with the OPC team and other instructors as needed to plan, review and develop the program 

  • monitor global education leadership opportunities.

Selection Criteria

ISL Certificate Program instructors must have:

  • evidence of highly effective adult facilitation skills 

  • flexibility and availability for assignment 

  • understanding and use of culturally responsive and relevant pedagogies 

  • an open-to-learning approach, reflective practice and the application of an equity lens to engagement and learning 

  • demonstrate an anti-oppressive leadership stance that seeks to challenge and dismantle systemic barriers and deficit thinking 

  • personal and/or professional international experience

  • evidence of entrepreneurial spirit and success 

  • experience as an online learner or instructor  

  • school leadership certificate (license), if applicable 

  • knowledge of regional Kindergarten-grade 12 educational issues and needs  

  • a minimum of five years’ experience as a highly effective school-level leader (e.g., principal, school head, etc.) to deliver the ISL Program and 

  • be a recently retired principal or vice-principal 

The following will be considered an asset:

  • a minimum of five years of experience as a highly effective system leader (boards, municipalities, or ministries) with direct responsibility for individual schools and 

  • a Master of Education 

Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Candidates invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting will need to be available on December 20 or December 21, 2023. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation.
