Implementation of New Salary Grid

While the three provincial P/VP associations have approved the new provincial terms and conditions agreement reached in August, the other parties (the Crown and School Board Trustee Associations) have until September 30 to do so. After that date, if ratified, school boards will begin applying the new salary increase to your pay. They will also calculate the retroactive salary payment and the Bill 124 remedy payment and are encouraged to provide these to P/VPs by November 1, 2024, but must do so by December 31, 2024. We encourage you to read the Q and A about the agreement, posted on the Member-side of our website.

Navigating Professional Relationships – Tip Sheet

The new school year brings many opportunities for forming relationships in the school, system and community. Principals and vice-principals should clearly understand the need for professional boundaries when navigating relationships at work, and how to identify professional relationships that may be cause for concern. Building strategies for dealing with issues and dilemmas that may arise in professional relationships is critical for P/VPs to maintain ethical, positive ones. If you are facing a challenge about a relationship or are about to prepare for a possible difficult interaction, seek support from board staff and refer to our tip sheet. You can also contact our team by calling 1-800-701-2362.

Member Satisfaction Survey Feedback

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our Member Satisfaction Survey that was shared in May 2024. We value your feedback. Your input has enabled us to gain a deeper understanding of your needs and expectations, guiding us towards actions that will enhance our services. As we work to set some goals for the current school year to improve Member satisfaction, we will post them on our website. To continue to understand the changing needs and continuously improve our service, we have committed to seeking your feedback annually and will send another survey in May 2025.

Celebrating Local Government Week

From October 20 to 26, Local Government Week will highlight locally elected officials, including school board trustees and municipal mayors, reeves and councillors. Your local trustee may be contacting schools to arrange visits – either in-person or virtual – with Grade 5 and 10 classrooms during that week. For more information, please contact inquiry@opsba.org.
